REFLECTED
AND LOST

Exhibition by Irina Zimina about human relations, the role of women and emigration
April 2024
Türkiye, Fethiye, Likya Sanat Yolu Gallery

ABOUT WOMEN, IMMIGRATION AND INTERPERSONAL DYNAMICS

The exhibition "Reflected and Lost" offers an immersive journey into the dynamics of personal transformation experienced through immigration. It poses profound questions to the viewers:

How are love and interpersonal relationships reshaped under the strain of new circumstances?

In the wake of shifting cultural and historical landscapes, what becomes of traditional gender roles?

And amidst these changes, how does one forge a new identity and assimilate into an alien culture?

This collection, featuring an intricate blend of paintings and sculptures, delves deep into the multifaceted nature of the immigration experience. Moreover, it serves as a canvas for the artist's introspection on her evolving relationship with her adopted homeland.

The cornerstone of the exhibition is an exploration of the concept of love as viewed through the diverse lenses of cultural and historical contexts. The artist beckons the audience to contemplate the contemporary perception and interpretation of love, alongside the stereotypes and expectations that are intertwined with this notion.

О нас

WHAT IS IT LIKE TO BE A WOMAN IN THE MODERN WORLD?

Erotic art invariably sparks discussions around women's self-perception, challenging stereotypes, and fostering a dialogue on body acceptance and embracing one's authentic self.

Throughout the duration of the exhibition, each day will be enriched with workshops, art therapy sessions, guided tours, and masterclasses, all centered on exploring the portrayal of women.

Through the lens of art and creative expression, participants will be encouraged to turn their gaze inward, delving into the essence of femininity and examining societal perceptions of women's roles and images.

Creativity, both our own and that of others, serves as a powerful conduit for expressing feelings, emotions, and experiences that elude verbal articulation. Through the act of creation, we channel our pain, joy, and happiness into tangible forms.

Engaging with the artwork of others offers us a mirror, reflecting new insights about our inner selves.

Consequently, in this project, art therapy and the broader realm of art are intricately connected. Art stands as a vibrant medium of expression, while art therapy leverages this medium as a tool for self-exploration and personal growth.
